Topics, as in 'Topic of Conversation'.
Topics are the specific subjects of interest within a more general category. For example, an Industry Kit (Category) might focus on Hybrid Vehicle Features, but a topic within that category would be Efficiency. Topics help us frame our content and organize the related subjects into sections of our conversation.
A topic can be custom created, or included with an industry kit.
While an Industry Kit provides a trove of industry related knowledge, the content of those kits and the overall conversation are organized into Topics. At any time during a conversation around your product, the consumer might change the topic of conversation. Being prepared to discuss 'in-scope' topics will allow you to foster a meaningful and memorable conversation with your consumer.
If you chose to include an Industry Kit in your conversation then you already have some predefined topics available for conversation. You can easily review these Topics by selecting a topic from the drop-down menu within a Kit. Additionally the topics available are listed out at the bottom of the kit's card.
Here you can choose to exclude a topic as well. Do this by clicking the (x) next to the topic's name. To add one back, click it again.
In some scenarios, an Industry Kit will not effectively cover the scope of the conversation or you may decide to craft your own conversation without pre-trained kit content. In both of these scenarios, Topics can be custom created to help organize your content.
You can enter your own custom topics by typing the name in the field. At this time, you can have up to 20 custom topics in addition to any Kit based topics.
Tips for Topics:
- Make sure your topics have variety, they should not be too close in scope
- Topic names are not used in the front-end user experience
- You cannot repeat Topic names
- Topics should not focus on one specific subject, instead they should include several subjects
- Ex: Efficiency includes MPG, MPGe, Distance on a Charge, Cost Savings
Working with Topics
Once you've completed the setup steps, Topics will help you keep your content organized and you'll utilize topics to navigate through your content in the Easy Editor and the Advanced Editor.
